        Excellent in every way!

The Advanced Soapmaking Class was an excellent day for my husband, the doctor with a chemistry degree, and me, looking to decode how to make soap with sheep’s milk from milking one of our ewes as an experiment. We had the Beginner Class last winter and were impressed by Kim, the cool facilities, the preparation for learning easily, and the results. There’s more going on in soap than I ever knew. Turns out my husband was just as intrigued even though he and Kim took the conversation to deep places while I was off smelling essential oils. The Advanced Day was a custom day. Kim was there as a technical advisor while we took the lead on what we wanted to create. We both used Sheep’s Milk as a base, but she has a range of ingredients there that come with the class that we would otherwise have used. We started at 8 and finished around 1:30, somewhat longer because the milk proved a little tricky to work with and Kim had to get engaged to help us figure out how to best reincorporate it in the crock pots. Now I know a heck of a lot more about the chemistry of soap than I ever did before, and proudly have bars to prove it. I am also confident that I’ll be back to Kim in the future as I think through how to use the online calculator she introduced us to, and dabble with ways to use the herbs and natural materials we raise on our farm.
